Hodgins was born in 1931 in Basom, NY. Raised in Buffalo, he later moved back to Basom and bought a printing press, performing small jobs for the community. He relocated the growing business to Batavia in 1962, where Hodgins Printing still is today.

His artistic talent has developed over the years, and he has taught painting workshops. His work has been featured in many shows.

He is now retired, serving on the Genesee County Legislature. He maintains a gallery and does some sign painting out of his home.
