A lifelong Batavian, Mr. Hopp worked with his father, William, in the watch making business. By the 1920s the business was located in the Masonic Temple on Main Street. He sold the business in 1931 and eventually went to work for Bell Aircraft in Buffalo. After World War II ended, he worked for Herb Brenner repairing watches. In 1957, Hopp had a tiny corner workshop in the C.L. Carr store.
Besides painting, Mr. Hopp's had other hobbies, included amateur weatherman and mechanic
Mr. Hopp died in June 1969 at the age of 72.
