Having been employed by Eastman Kodak for 32 years, Yoder began his artistic journey with photography. This interest helped develop an ability to manage composition. Since retiring in 1999, he began painting landscapes. Interestingly he began using oil paints that were given to him 35 years ago. He still uses some of these paints today. A couple years ago, he expanded his use of mediums to include acrylics.
For him, the creative process of researching and creating a picture seems refreshingly new each time. The outcome has been compared to having children, you love each one because of their unique attributes and because they are "yours".
During the past five years he has been undergoing a transformation in his painting style. He is being drawn away from realism and toward impressionism. He can't wait to see where this leads him. The painting-to-painting journey is exciting.
