Hamlet of Basom

Rt 77 & Bloomington Rd

Basom, located in the southwest portion of the township, was named after early landowner Sabert Basom. The hamlet centered on the railroad and much of the commerce there related to the transportation industry. The Alabama Produce Company incorporated in 1905. The company, located across from the depot, loaded produce for shipment to be sent to other places.
