Hamlet of Fargo
Fargo Road Between Sumner Road & Bell Road
Fargo is on Fargo Road at the junction of the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. The Sumner brothers, 1810 pioneers, influenced the growth of the area. Jerome Sumner operated a sawmill on Ellicott Creek and the Borden family operated a milk plant.
By 1890, Fargo had ten houses, a general store, post office, two blacksmith shops, the Cloverfield Cheese Factory, and a carriage and implement dealer.
