Hamlet of Griswold

Griswold Road between Route 20 & Chick Road

Griswold Station is located on Griswold Road at the Erie Railroad. It is name for the Griswold family . It had an icehouse, feed mill, a factory for cutting barrel headings, and spring bed factory and an apple dryer.

In 1904, the Darien Ice Company built a dam and created Lake Hendel. The lake became an excellent source for ice and the icehouse was built for storage and it was shipped daily to Buffalo and other places.
