Hamlet of Pumpkin Hill / North Byron

Pumpkin Hill (North Byron) received its name from Moses Gillian who called it Pumpkin Hill because a sign on a tavern resembled a pumpkin, and the name stuck.

Originally it was a stagecoach stop. The hamlet had a hotel and tavern. Other businesses included a cooper shop and a blacksmith; Loren Green operated a flourmill on the southeast corner of Warboys Road and Route 237.
