Hamlet of Wheatfield

Knowlesville Rd & Lewiston Rd

Wheatville (or East Alabama) is 2 ½ miles east of Alabama Center at the intersection of Lewiston Road and Knowlesville Road. It was an early stagecoach stop. Later businesses included a sawmill, plaster mill, and a tannery. St. Patrick’s Church, a school, a parsonage, and a hotel were in the four-corner district.
